This is taken from a recent slashdot article and filed under graphics for obvious reasons.

Some of this is very interesting. I particularly like the comparisons on the second 'exploration', just because it adds an interesting 'depth' to the images.

Either way, these images are hauntingly beautiful at some mathematical level - check em out

Fractals do have some meaning to me, around 20 years ago, was some kind of competition to code faster ways to draw mandelbrots and julias on the amiga and latelly on the pc whem the advent of true color vga arrived (I was around 15 by the time, and started on the amiga by the age of 12).

Seeing them on 3D is something I never thought of, computing power by the time was not enough for it... any calculator today has plenty more

Amazing and breathtaking sintetic imaging, great found DS! Guess I'm gonna burn my cpu's on something
