I like playing poker but I find most of the online variations to be OTT or require membership, or credit cards, etc.

I found an open source one today ...

The main thing I liked about it is that its just a normal game of poker - no bells or whistles. Also, you can host private games via the internet, so if anyone is interested we can have some TWK only poker nights.

I've not fully tested it out - it's basic, but it does the job and might be worth a look. Let me know what you think as I'm up for some gaming here in France!

Partypoker is quite a simple format, not really too complex. Tried PKR which sounded great at first but then transforms into the most annoying creation on Earth and it's way over the top on background and animations

Yeah PKR isn't that great for actual poker - only using the emotion/action things. YES!! BOOOOOOOO!!!!

I personally play on PokerStars (can't wait until I'm 18 - start the real money gambling!) as I just think it's the simplest and best.

Haven't downloaded it but that open source one looks not too bad and would certainly be up for some TWK poker nights.

I think the main attraction of the open source one is that it's just the plain poker - it really is plain - but that sort of appeals to me. It's free, we can set up a private passworded 'server' without any adverts/other stuff, and all be on vent for some fun. It's also not web-based.

There are probably some alternatives worth exploring but I like the simplicity of this one. The only downside, it's based in $.
