Ok, so we all know the story - Valve updated CS:S and a lot of things pretty much died, one of the big ones being the WarCraft mod.

Lucky for us Pooky has been working tirelessly on pulling our server from the grave. It's still going to take a lot of time to get things back as fully as they were - in particular the large amount of races, etc.

But what he has achieved so far is something of a rarity atm - a functioning WCS server WITH effects WITH sounds WITH races working as expected!! A lot of thanks is also due to the WCS community itself that has also worked hard to update and re-code for the new CS:S.

So, it's time to start notching up those levels and re-experiencing the WCS mod on the new Orangebox Source. And expect new races to be added fairly regularly!

After Valve latest update moving CSS to Orangebox engine, as you all know most mods got broken.

One of the mods was of course Warcraft Source.

The main issue with WCS is not directly related to the mod but to ES Tools that stopped working (Not Eventscripts, that got recently updated but ES Tools, responsible for most of the effects and powers of races).

There are people trying to come up with a replacement to ES Tools but its still not stable or has all the functionality EST had, and on top of that we would have to rewrite all races to "speak" that language instead of EST.

We have a different solution that we can implement, a Sourcemod based one, but it lacks races (all the races Pooky has dedicatedly worked on all this time) and is coded totally differently so this would mean having to rewrite 80+ races (mind you we would have to do the same for WCS with EST replacement) but in a totally different language.

We have the whole mod backed up (along with races, XP etc) so for now we have set up the old WCS server as it was, maps, etc, but with RPG mod to get people back and playing together again whilst we await further news.

If there is a different type of server you would all rather play on whilst we wait on news of WCS (as long as it is also not broken by Valve!), please let us know.
