EnemyDown Acquired by Heaven Media - December 2nd 2009
Heaven Media, publisher of leading websites for enthusiast PC hardware, gaming and esports, today announced the acquisition of EnemyDown, including its propriety X-Ray Anti-Cheat software.
EnemyDown launched seven years ago and made its name as one of the first sites to facilitate online tournaments and leagues.

Today EnemyDown supports titles ranging from popular console titles such as Fifa 2009 to some of the biggest games in esports, such as Counter-Strike.

Included in the purchase of EnemyDown is X-Ray Anti-Cheat and Mixes. X-Ray is of course the highly used anti-cheat software used by many leagues and tournaments around the world, and Mixes, while currently offline, is a formerly popular service that gives you an easier-than-ever way of getting into a quick game!

"EnemyDown gives Heaven Media another dimension to its media offering. Within the group of sites a visitor can read about the top gaming hardware, the biggest game releases, the teams and players in the professional field and now they can themselves play in some of the best run tournaments and leagues in the world." said Heaven Media’s Managing Director, James Reed. "In addition this supports our move this year into events, following the success of the Game Zone, run by Heaven Media each year at the Gadget Show Live, in Birmingham’s NEC."

"Heaven Media purchased this group of sites as we felt it would compliment what we already had in our portfolio, and it gave us a chance to grow our group, and at the same time support the community in rebuilding what was once a great set of websites," said Heaven Media's Corin Cole. "Given the choice of allowing these brands to fade and die or purchasing them, as gamers at Heaven Media it was a no-brainer. If we hadn’t purchased them, there was always a risk that they could disappear forever, and we couldn’t let that happen."

Luckie's Thoughts: I reckoned it was only a matter of time before ED either just shut down completely or was taken over - ED was clearly on its last legs due to google ads appearing everywhere along with the complete inactivity of the Open Ladder. This should be a good thing for ED as this newfound cash injection should give ED the funds and support from what sounds like a very experienced company to rebuild themselves into their former glory.

Clan Reorganisation
Due to everyone having loads of committments at the moment, we have reorganised very slightly.

The most prominent changes are in the leadership of the clan. I will still be overall CL of the clan however, DS is taking a step back from clan affairs to try and concentrate on maintaining and developing the community side. Gazza is also stepping down as DL to concentrate on many other things. Both DS and Gazza are still clan members however will not be as active as they previously were.

This means that there has been leadership vacancies and it is with pleasure I welcome Tin as our new DL. He'll be calling, organising and generally helping me with any clan affairs.

Also, as Nil is very busy as well at the moment, we have removed him from the ED roster however, with a hope that we will add him back on once he has more time to play.

To summarise, the clan ED roster stands as follows:

Clan Leader: Luckie

Deputy Leader: Tin

Clan Members:

Andy
DreamState
Gazza
Greenie
HBW
McBeaton
Slab
Vapour

So best of luck to Tin - I'll be showing him the ropes over the next few weeks. There are upcoming ED cups which I have signed up to and hope we can play in so there will be some matches next week.

Thanks,

Luckie

What's happening with the reopening of ED.co.uk - important for CLs.
Right I've sorted the clan back out after this piss take of reopening the co.uk site.

I've also finally figured out wtf is to happen. All existing events (the Fair Shake and the Summer Cup) are to be continued on the .eu site. The .eu CSS ladder has been removed so the 2 matches we played on it are void and pointless

The original .co.uk Open ladder is back up and running and has the same stats etc. that we had when the site closed. All ED Official Ladder matches are to be played on the .co.uk site.

It's beyond a fucking joke now! I know the admins are trying their best but it feels like we're being pissed about with so much!

The Reopening of enemydown.co.uk
This is the news post which was on the ED websites today. To be honest, it is getting beyond a joke now:

The old site is back up again for the old titles

Posted by .Icarus. on Jun 17th 2009 15:21

Enemy Down was founded as a community site. Even when it became more commercial, the staff and admins have worked hard to keep it at its roots.

Now for the bit you may (or may not) be expecting after the leak on Cadred's forum last night. We've reopened the old site. You'll find enemydown.co.uk points to the old site, and enemydown.eu points to the new site.

We know you're not happy with the new site and we have recognised the fact that the ladders that you love and enjoy are not working to the high standard you've come to expect. We screwed up. So much so, that we've taken this drastic step.

For this mistake, I would like to say on behalf of everyone here at TNWA that we truly sorry. We hope this step works towards repairing the distrust and dislike that this has caused.

None of the data as it was a few weeks ago has changed. The site was frozen in time when we shut it down. We just thawed it out. So you can get back to playing in ladders and open challenges.

Don't worry about how the data looks on enemydown.eu for your clan/ladder for now. We'll have to come back to it and work out how to properly, rather than haphazardly, migrate the data across.

Once again, please accept our apologies for this. If you find things aren't quite working since the thawing, please let us know via the normal channels.

Icarus.

Old ED is on it's Last Legs
The old ED website will be closing forever shortly as this news post from the site shows:

The times they are a changing
May 26th 2009

The forums at enemydown.co.uk have become the enemydown.eu forums

Over the past six months the staff here at ED have slowly been grinding away at improving enemydown.eu to a point where we are happy enough to start the painful process of shutting down enemydown.co.uk forever. Well, it is with great sadness that I bring the news that this day is finally approaching. As of today the forums of enemydown.co.uk will become the forums to enemydown.eu - don't worry, all of the classic posts will still exist such as Edit Your War Across the Cliff and Hot or Not will still be on there. In fact, they're the very same forums but re-branded.

We know that many of you have been avoiding the closure of .co.uk for awhile now and we understand that these times will be tough. However, the old ED was obviously never designed to handle the amount of traffic that ED deals with now and it was no longer viable to host 200,000 users on the old site. As the man who gave Indiana Jones his fedora in The Last Crusade said, "you lost today kid, but it doesn't mean you have to like it."
Features of the site, why the change?

Why move over to the new ED? Quite simply the new site is faster, more secure, and less open to hacking and DOS attacks.

We're also responding to the community by taking any requests for new functionality on board and making vast improvements to the site on a weekly basis. Something the old site doesn't allow us to do. What do you need to do?
Not much. ED, XLEAGUE, and Devotii profiles will all work on the new ED and most clans and squads will have been successfully ported over. However, we are asking for players to check that their clans and squads are intact and have survived the migration from .co.uk to .eu - if you notice they have become separated or haven't survived completely, please contact support@enemydown.co.uk immediately. We have tried everything to ensure that clans and squads have remained intact during the migration.

With this news I offer solace that a man much wiser than myself predicted the closure of ED back in the 60's. His name was Robert Allen Zimmerman but most people know him as Bob Dylan.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Well, looks like we're just going to have completely migrate over to the new ED site forever now. Once I can figure out how to actually find a match in this mystical 'Open' Ladder I'll get some matches organised. But say goodbye to the old ED website and 'Oh Sh*t!' to the new one!

Good Luck Have Fun!

Update:
I almost forgot to mention... enemydown.co.uk closes on Thursday at 4pm!

EDCS:SL13 Final Standings
Congratulations to all members who played in the EDCS:SL XIII Matches. All of the matches for all teams have been caught up on and the results have been confirmed. This means that the final league standing are as follows:

Group 8
Pos Tag Participant P W D L RD Points
1 |3MC| 3 Man Clan 7 5 0 2 22 15
2 AG# Aerelon Gaming | Orion-Webdesigns.co.uk 7 5 0 2 18 15
3 MOD [E] MOD|-Extreme. 7 4 0 3 20 12
4 {KEA} Kill Em All (Sponsered by a Saffa!) 7 4 0 3 6 12
5 -TWK- Those Who Know 7 3 0 4 22 9
6 PfAÂą Push forward as one 7 3 0 4 -4 9
7 SD:css2 Sex, Drugs & CSS Team 2 7 2 0 5 -12 6
8 kk. Kokaine - Sponsored by Xippy.co.uk 7 2 0 5 -72 6

So, 5th overall is very good considering most of the maps we hardly ever play. And remember - 2 matches we only lost 16-14 so we are definately doing very well now. This is a great result.

Maybe in the next EDCS:SL we will be first in our group and get promoted?

We're still waiting on acceptance into the Fair Shake Cup but that should'nt take long now to get running. In the mean time we can do some old ED Open Ladder Matches if we want any officials or we can just stick to mixing for the time being - up to you guys.

Good games and Well Played.

Thanks,

Luckie

Major Clan Reshuffle
Due to a number of reasons we have decided to re-ogranise the clans.

Running two clans is a great deal of work as opposed to working on one clan (which is still a lot of work). And neither teams have *quite* enough players. Whilst I personally had hoped recently that TWK could support two teams, at the moment we simply cannot.

At the same time we have to keep the clan small to ensure a good skill level.

With sadness, we have disbanded team 2 until we feel there is enough players to support it.

This means, for the time being, that players in team 2 have or have not been moved to team 1. This has been chosen primarily on how regular a player has been playing/mixing as this is important to the team as a whole. This of course is difficult as not everyone can spare the same amount of time as another player. But, unfortunately, for clan purposes, it is absolutely essential to play matches/mixes 2/3 times a week to ensure a good level of skill and TEAMWORK.

If you feel you could join team 1 in wake of team 2, and can put in the time, then please speak to any of the CL's about it but also please understand our situation.

Please contact Luckie, Gazza or myself (DS) via steam, pm or email.

Therefore, the team stands currently at this...

Cpl. McLuckie (Main CL)
DreamState
Gazza
niLdesperandum
Slablaska
KaraS
Handsome B Wonderful
TheGreenie
Tinwax
Eskimo

New Version of XAC
Can all clan members (both team 1 and team 2) upgrade their XAC. This is mandatory for ED matches. If you do not have the latest version then you cannot play in an ED match - as simple as that.

A copy of the message I received from the ED Admin:

http://www.xraygaming.com/forums/sh owthread.php?t=7476

If you have matches tonight/tomorrow, try and update XAC in plenty of time before your match starts. Just run the version you already have installed and it should auto-update.

Any problems with the upgrade should be posted on their forums thought it might be useful to let you guys know in advance if you don't read the news on the front of the site

Thanks,

Luckie

TWK Team 1 Takes Silver in the EnemyDown Liar Liar Pants on Fire!! Cup
A quick congrats to everyone who played last night

We managed to get 2nd place in the "Liar Liar Pants on Fire!!" Behind a team that was wrongly place in group C they were high skilled

Our first game was Pretty damn funny everyone following someone on a rush and the repetiveness of me calling "A split" never seemed to have an effect on how [E-SX] played which we found quite suprising what we soon came to terms with is that de_cpl_fire is a very t sided map.

Next we played "TeamFob" - what a name eh. These guys were above us on the ladder so it gave us a general idea of there skill so we were more nervous about this game. After getting owned in the knife round we followed up with funnily enough an a rush and it worked. and the same tactic was used for the next 2 rounds - im original - and we managed to bag all 3 ecos, It then continued with splitting and picking and on t side we managed to pick up an unbelivable 8 rounds. We then took over ct with a great performance by eskimo in this game.

It was on to the Semi's from there, Twk v YeGods - which one i have no idea - there is about 8. We had no idea about these guys when we went into the game. It turned out they werent as good as our previous games we were actually suprised they got this far. We started the game strongly on Ct getting the score to 9-2 but our cocky'ness gave them a chance they managed to pull back another 3 rounds before finishing the half 10-5. But due to a few "A-Rush's" The game was over pretty quick. luckie played a blinder on t-side

Now The finals - The pressure is on - Agianst a team i noticed right away "Delerious" a team i remembered playing agianst and along side with bos, and one of them went to lan with bos. At this point you might be getting an idea of just how good these guys actually are. They quite litteraly raped us by a cheap tactic of coming behind us on the knife round, we took it like men though 8) and continued on to win the first round with nothing other than an "A-Rush" it was then followed up by us losing the 2nd round and then doing very well on the third planting the bomb and killing 4 but some good play from "clutch biscuit" got them the round. We then continued on agianst a high team on a map we have played for one night. Unbelivable performance all around from everyone to get a final score of 16-8 Although the score looks bad we were on ct so we would have had a chance to get more rounds. It was very well played though by everyone. After the game i was Congratued on behalf of twk by Adzi-D (They're caller)

There was a gutted feeling in vent being put out second by a team that honestly shouldnt have been there but shit happends really. We then all went for a game of Dow and chilled :D GJ TWK

Thanks,

Gazza

TWK Team 1 Takes Silver in the EnemyDown Hostage Hero 2 Cup C!
A big congratulations to team 1 who successfully fought their way all the way to the final of the EnemyDown Hostage Heroes! II Cup C.

Luckily our 1st match against a clan who was 40 something in ED was defaulted - putting us straight through to the quarter finals.

An exceptionally close quarter finals, which finished 13-11 put us through to the semi finals, which proved our good teamwork, cover and awping skills!

The semi finals felt even tenser than the previous match, again being put down to the last round of the match to finish 13-11. Excellent play as CT got us that extra we needed which allowed us to pick up the remaining rounds as T with more exceptional play.

We were in the final! Victory was drawing near and the tension could be cut like a hot knife through butter! However, due to member inavailability we had to play the majority of the final with only 4 players. However we won the knife round and managed to get to go Ts in the first half, where we picked up 8 rounds.

However, we just needed that extra player in the second half to break through the T defences. Unfortunately the final score came to 13-8, which is still damn good.

Excellent play all round and from everyone. We now have a silver award on our clan profile page (our first award ever - even including the TMH days) and we certainly are starting to get ourselves known amongst the ED CS:S community.

So congratulations to team 1 and from the CLs very well played. Let's do just as well in all the forthcoming cups that are planned (and more still to come!) and in any future matches because tonight certainly proved that we have come a long way in such a short time. Very well done.
